Biography: I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. George M. Church, jointly appointed in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and in the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University.
I completed my doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University under the supervision of Dr. Jingyue Ju in the Center for Genome Technology and Biomolecular Engineering and my undergraduate training at Clarkson University.
Current Research: As a postdoctoral researcher, I have provided proof-of-principle for a new sequencing system that lays the foundation for a highly scalable, single-molecule DNA sequencing platform. This has the potential to sequence entire genomes at much lower costs and to become instrumental for transforming many areas of precision medicine. I have also demonstrated an extension of this platform technology, used as a multiplex screening tool for a library of DNA polymerases, to identify variants with novel properties for applications of biotechnological interest.
Mission: My long-term goal is to create high-throughput technologies to detect and actuate single enzymes and other biomolecules with unprecedented sensitivity and control, while at the same time to pursue discoveries using these tools for comprehensive biological system studies in a collaborative setting.
Vision: By taking advantage of several of my previously created technologies, together with the development of a novel set of high-throughput and multiplex tools, I hope to greatly expedite new insights into a wide variety of biological system studies based on single-molecule enzyme activity screens and create foundationally disruptive technologies for DNA reading and writing.
